Our Story

If beekeeping was easy everyone would do it.

"We all have something to learn from, and something to teach one another." - Jesse McGurdy

"My job, teach. Your job, learn" - Mr. Miagi

It's hard to meet an experienced beekeeper, any experienced beekeeper, and not be enthralled by the sheer volume of knowledge they have to possess to pursue their passion. In 2020 during the peak of the pandemic Honey Badger Apiaries was nothing but 2 donated colonies and 3 passionate but inexperienced individuals determined to succeed in this challenging craft. By the end of 2020 our small group had grown to five members. We formed our business and learned enough about beekeeping to keep one colony alive through the winter and sell a few pounds of honey. in 2021 we received a call to work our first renaissance faire and held our first gift basket sale. We were on our way. Today we have solidified as a team with five members in our LLC. Everyday is a new experience as we learn from and teach each other, perform outreach activities ranging from our apprenticeship program to our demonstrations at renaissance faires, and tours of our farm and facility. This unique dynamic is the heart of Honey Badger- learn everything you can, teach what you know, and share what you have.
